Master Data Governance

MDX provides a SharePoint portal for data governance. Microsoft SharePoint is an ideal environment for the collaborative activities of data governance. SharePoint provides a familiar user interface for business users and lowers support costs for the enterprise.

MDX provides all of the SharePoint and MDM components required to establish enterprise data governance:

Data Governance Framework

A structured SharePoint container for the MDX data governance components.

Data Maintenance Forms

A collection of SharePoint forms to create, update and validate master data. The forms include services calls to the back-end MDX Hub.

Reports

A collection of common data governance and operations reports. Reports are created using SQL Server Reporting Services.

Event Manager

An event notification and tracking system integrated with SharePoint and the MDX repository.

Workflows

SharePoint workflows to link data governance forms, data governance events and SharePoint notifications.

Architecture

The MDX Data Governance Hub provides enterprise-class Master Data Management capabilities including validation, cleansing, de-duplication and harmonization services. The MDX Hub can be accessed via service calls embedded SharePoint forms. The MDX SharePoint front-end is a collection of forms, reports and workflows. The SharePoint interface is fully customizable using standard SharePoint configuration tools.

Event Manager

MDX includes an event tracking system called IFA (Items for Attention). IFA’s are events that are raised automatically by the MDX Hub or created manually by someone during a data governance process. IFA’s are tracked in a variety of ways including, the person it is assigned to, the due date, the data element involved and the MDM event. SharePoint workflows may be attached to the IFA’s to generate email or task notifications, escalate outstanding IFA’s or alert stakeholders on status.

Library of Reports

MDX provides a library of data governance reports based on SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). MDX reports may be modified using SSRS or other reporting tools if required.
